Summary of Story: Conrad is staying with his eccentric widowed aunt. Increasingly infatuated with a young couple, Sarah and George, Conrad becomes convinced that his pet ferret possesses supernatural powers. When Mrs de Ropp sends his friends away for risking Conrad's life in a midnight swimming venture, Conrad takes on the identity of his god-ferret and inflicts a terrible revenge.
