David Haines is a composer and songwriter based in the seaside town of Teignmouth, South Devon, UK.
For over twenty five years, much of his work has been community-based, forging creative relationships with youth and community music theatre groups, amateur theatrical societies, schools, colleges and pre-schools and writing new and often educational materials either alone or as part of Workshops and Residencies.
David is passionate about science and has incorporated scientific themes into many of his works. In recent years he has written works explicitly aimed at creating enthusiasm for and interest in science through song. See The Lifetime Project for more details of one of these.
He has written many Music Theatre pieces for adults and children and has had many productions both here and in the USA.
To help to make his work as widely available as possible, his publishing company, Singtastic, makes access to his songs (including downloadable teaching material) as easy as possible.
To complement his community and educational work, and with his (mostly) serious music hat on, three of his music theatre works have received professional productions and his concert songs have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and performed at such venues as the Carnegie Recital Hall in New York and London's Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room.
David is a hugely enthusiastic and experienced musician who is never happier than when sharing his enthusiasm through music.
